Radio observation in hydrogen line (1420MHz)

Demonstrating that I am successfully mapping Perseus Arm of Milky Way with my 1420MHz setup 1/11/2023

I am corrected the elevations and azimuths in my data, now that I am using a compass and inclinometer on my phone to get accurate readings and completed data collection at 3 elevation levels – and reanalysed the data today.

I then overlaid the galactic arms plot produced by Ted Cline’s excellent ezRA suite with a map of the Milky Way, which can be seen below – as you can see my data reasonably accurately follows the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way.

I am vey excited!

Next step is to collect data at more elevation levels.

Ptarmigan Triffid Dipole Array designed for UK Military Band 3 communications – 4 x 4 array of dipoles with 86 x 86cm total size of the antenna = comes in nice military dark green colour only!
