First light from aluminium Sol’Ex made in Vietnam
Arrived this morning, transferred optics from 3D-printed plastic Azur3D Solex to new aluminium Sol’Ex this afternoon, couldn’t initially get a spectrum until I realised I had (i) added washer on plastic bit that holds grating in place preventing grating sitting properly in its space and (ii) forgot to move the objective lens over from 3D-printed Sol’Ex to aluminium one! Once these 2 issues were corrected was able to point the Sol’Ex with ZWO ASI174MM camera on it out of window at late evening (quite dark) cloud and get this spectrum (did not use a telescope) – levels on spectrum enhanced in Adobe Photoshop as initial image quite dim (as is the sky).
